BC Cup #5 Kicking horse!

The race we have all been waiting for! Every year i cant wait for this race just because the track is always so good. Its what every course should be like, fast, loose and very rough! Other then just the racing this even has so much going on all week end. Lots of prizes and to top it off Brett Tippie was MC’ing for the weekend and he always keeps every body stoked.

C4 headed out there the Thursday before the race to get the track dialed. Due to an injury Jack couldn’t make it out and Jordan had to work. Zander and I went out with Cory, then we met Jesse and Matt out there.

After setting up camp late Thursday night. we got up early Friday to ride the track and figure out the fast lines. Through out the day we rode 5 laps and called it. By the end of the day I felt fast and confident. We were camping out in the parking lot right at the base of the mountain so it worked out perfect for after riding cause it was so close. We have been camping so far at ever race this year so we got it pretty dialed.

nice clean bikes!

It has been a week since we went down to RaceFace to get all kitted out, and I love every thing! we got a set of shorts, gloves, and knee pads. The knee pads are very comfortable! usually I dont wear gloves but after getting a pair of the RaceFace Podium gloves I wear them all the time! The shorts are super breathable and not to mention look really good! I’m stoked on the gear!

Saturday morning came around and it was practice time again. After riding all Friday and getting the lines down, Saturday was the test to go race pace and see if the lines hold, and they did! I only did a total of three laps that day and that’s all I needed. I was feeling really good with my self and was ready to race! Saturday night was pretty fun. Brett Tippie came to our camp and we all played glow in the dark Frisbee at night!

Lee Jackson Saturday practice

We all got a good sleep and was ready to pin it! we woke up and did our few practice laps to get the feel for the track before our race run. I decided to do only one lap. I timed it and I got a 4:12 just to see where I was at with the time. After I knew that time I wanted to get under four minutes in my race. The start times where pretty late and i raced at 4:o8 so we had a lot of time to kill. We all just hung out in the shade and prepared our self’s for the race.

Finally it was time to race and every body was feeling good! Zander and I headed up the lift. I was 4th down in the group, as I watched the guys in front of me drop in i was feeling the pressure. I dropped into my run and I felt good the whole lap, hit all my lines and kept it loose! When I crossed the line i felt it was a good time. I sat in the hot seat for the rest of the group and as the last guy crossed the line I knew I took it! It was my first win of the BC Cup series this year. I was really stoked to finally win!
