For a little while, riders have been asking for steeper and more gnarly zones to do training on. A 4×4 was needed to get up high enough into the mountains above Squamish to get to what the riders were asking for.
After some hiking/biking around, the riders had a good sense of what could be accomplished with this zone and were eager to get on the bikes to start riding sections in preparation for the Pro GRT the next week.
The riders set up on top of a steep dusty shoot which everybody was excited to ride. It was being compared to the steeps of Fernie, but shorter of course. The good thing about loose dust is, when you crash, it usually doesn’t hurt!
There were many lines into the steep chute so everybody was watching eachother as they searched for the fastest and smoothest line.
After training had wrapped up, the riders headed back to HQ for another nutrition session with Tracy Higgs. This time, they were taught how to make Kale salad with dressing and avocado/date chocolate pudding! While eating, the riders learned about recovery and what to eat and when to eat after training or racing. A lot of eyes were opened and everybody learned a lot! The riders all left with various assortments of Vega One recovery, electrolyte, protein, and energy powders to try out.
